September 8, 30 in 30

Day 8, 30 paintings in 30 days
hosted by Leslie Saeta.

Some days you just don't have it. Sometimes you just have to scrap it. This is becoming more difficult for me as I grow in business. I wish it weren't the case. But as my art business grows so do the demands to produce and earn more money to pay the higher bills. Air conditioning, track lighting etc are all new things my company is purchasing. My creativity can become a production line; get this commission done, paint more for the show. Even doing the 30 in 30 is stressful; produce and make sure it's not crummy.

But the truth is there are times when it is crummy. Accept it, learn whatever your supposed to learn and move on. Today's painting was supposed to be a wedding gift for a man I've known since before he was born. I wanted to give him and his fiancee something special. It didn't work out. I had to resort to plan B, give them something else.

I feel reluctant to post this, and maybe a few others that I've posted that aren't my best. That's my ego I suppose. Anyway, it happens. Some days the art muse doesn't show up. Luckily, I can say I almost always enjoy the process whatever the outcome.

As Julia Child once said,

So here it is....

  1. Love that you posted the work and talked about it. I don't think it is as awful as you do. But yes, you have done much better. Right there with you, I botched one earlier in the challenge... but it was so terrible I did not post it. Maybe I will tomorrow. I like your tag too. mistakes. LOL I am going to have to remember that. Way to own it Jill! ;)

  2. Thanks Sheila. What concerns me so much is that mistakes are what makes us grow.If I'm so afraid of making bad art how will I ever evolve. Maybe next 30 in 30 should be a theme, make ugly art.

  3. I think I would do well with that challenge Jill! LOL. You are absolutely right, and why is it we all have that fear? Cheers ;)
