On day 7 I'm dreaming about Up North and the abundant wildlife. This little guy is a twin that my camera caught off guard. Every morning he and his sibling would stroll through the yard with their mother looking for something good to eat.

The world needs more bight, cheery sunflowers, 

of this I am convinced.

I became inspired when a sunflower farmer set up a booth next to mine at the Rockton River Market. His buckets full of hundreds of sunflowers were too much for me to resist. I took several photos and have a few more paintings planned.

I finished this painting last night at 317 Studio & Gallery's First Friday Event. I love painting there and always have a wonderful time.

I always meet interesting people be it the other artists participating or the people coming in to see what's going on.

Not For Sale

I'm trying to get together four entries for a show in Beloit, Wisconsin entitled "Faces". This is a picture I've wanted to do for a long time. I will live with it a bit and make changes as they pop out at me.

As a parent of more than one child, I have learned that each child is unique and comes with their own set of gifts and challenges. (Often they are one in the same.) With each of my three children there have been times when I questioned and/or prayed that I would have the knowledge and ability to help them thrive in this world.  I hoped I would be enough. Somewhere in all those years I began to understand how powerful love is and that Love is Always Enough.

Just a note: In playing with my blog entry I much prefer the picture to be cropped. I think I'd blur out the top right hand corner a bit.

This is the gate towards the boathouse. It's a peaceful part of the yard that is seldom used except by the four legged critters and birds. As a teenager this was one of my favorite places to go to be alone. I would climb up on the boathouse roof and watch the lake while I dreamed about the future and solved the problems of the day.

A man selling sunflowers moved into the booth next

 to mine at the Rockton River Market. 

I took several photos. The colors and textures were fascinating! I am a bit fixated on them so you can expect to see several sunflowers make their way into my 30 in 30.

Mark and I spent a long weekend Up North with friends. 

 

Laurie, who I've known since 7th grade, and I took some time to do some alcohol inks. Before putting the finishing touches on our paintings we went  swimming. It always helps to back away from a painting a bit before you're done. Laurie didn't want me to take this picture because her hair is wet but I'm loving her work and couldn't help myself. We had such a great time.

Ken, Laurie's husband, didn't want to paint but was interested in the process. I hope to host painting parties Up North next year. It's a wonderful place to paint and play.
