Sept 3, Croton Petra

Day 3

30 in 30 hosted by Leslie Saeta.

This beautiful plant was found at the end of December, along the waterfront shops, in Savannah Georgia. The kids and I surprised my husband with a week long celebration down South for his birthday. Such a great week, such wonderful memories of a stunning city.

30 in 30. September 1st, 2016

Welcome to day 1 of September's 30 in 30.  As always, this 30 in 30 is hosted by Leslie Saeta. (Thanks Leslie.) I'm writing my blog much later than usual because today I was out celebrating my daughter's birthday. It is just now at 11:15pm that I am slowing down and have time to make today's post. It seems like that was my theme for the summer... busy.  But it was a wonderful summer. The Fall is starting to look just as busy.

Talking about themes...
Many people choose themes for their 30 in 30. I do not. There are so many things I want to paint and to do that a 30 in 30 seems like purging myself of all the projects and ideas that I have been putting off. So what do I want to accomplish this month? I'd like to have a series of 8 x 10's in alcohol inks ready to go as class ideas, smaller paintings that are more affordable for those who visit my booth during shows. I'd also like to explore a bit and try a few new things. I have four commissions to do this month and am hoping to work on those this month along with four new Drive Bys. We'll see.

I haven't tired of doing sunflowers yet. I love their cheerful brightness. They are one of my most popular classes. I never tire of sitting down and painting this painting. It's different each time.

September, 30 in 30, Day 4

Day 4, 30 in 30 hosted by Leslie Saeta.

Love is Always Enough.

I'm trying to get together four entries for a show in Beloit, Wisconsin entitled "Faces". This is a picture I've wanted to do for a long time. I will live with it a bit and make changes as they pop out at me.

As a parent of more than one child, I have learned that each child is unique and comes with their own set of gifts and challenges. (Often they are one in the same.) With each of my three children there have been times when I questioned and/or prayed that I would have the knowledge and ability to help them thrive in this world.  I hoped I would be enough. Somewhere in all those years I began to understand how powerful love is and that Love is Always Enough.

Just a note: In playing with my blog entry I much prefer the picture to be cropped. I think I'd blur out the top right hand corner a bit.

If It's September, It's Back to 30 in 30

September 1st is the first day of the 30 in 30 painting challenge hosted by Leslie Saeta.
This is a wonderful opportunity to challenge yourself to do art every day of the month. It's a great time to experiment with techniques, practice forming those good work habits and to meet new friends from around the world as you post your works to Leslie's sight.

She usually gets over 1000 artist in 25 countries participating. Not only is this great fun but it's also a great marketing opportunity as you post your work on her blog daily and sell works.

For more information and to sign up see Leslie's blog at http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/

This will be my fourth challenge and I love doing it every time. (Although I have to admit that it can be a bit stressful.)

This September is not without it's challenges. I will be returning from a short vacation on the first to celebrate my daughter's birthday. (Happy birthday Sam.) Then on to a art demo at 317 Studio & Gallery that Friday night. The following Sunday, Monday you will find me at the Lake Forest Art Festival only to return home to give a workshop on Wednesday and do my last Rockton River Market. For the rest of the month I have another large show- Greenwich Village Sept. 19 &20 th and a fun family wedding the following weekend. Throw in a baby shower and host a plein air session and I'm set.

So I'm prepared...
I hope, who knows?
I have painted some paintings in advance for those days that I won't be able to do it. We'll see how this goes but it's so much fun I couldn't stand missing it. My friend calls this cheating but even Leslie will suggest doing some paintings in advance as she states, "There are no rules."

So why don't you sign up too and see how it goes at http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/

I will be posting my painting on my blog and on Facebook daily. See you there!
