September 7, Violets at Union

My husband has been rehabbing an 158 year old Italianate style home for the last few years. He has put such care into every aspect of this house, even the garden. These beauties were hiding in between the hostas. To some violets are weeds, others a lovely flower. I'm of the latter opinion. I find them a welcome visitor to any garden.

I live close to the city of Rockford. It's quite a gem of a city with a bad rep. (It's been going through a lot of growing pains which started when  all the manufacturing jobs went overseas.) But Rockford has a wonderful community of Artists. One of it's studios holds a place near and dear to my heart. 317 Studio &Gallery  

 It's the home to many artists and many budding artists. This painting is from one of their Loaded Brush  painting nights where Director Therese Rowinski will take you through everything you need to know to create a painting. I teach alcohol ink classes there. Sometimes it's just good to sit back, kick off your shoes and just paint with the rest of the world.

Sept 5, A Bag for Bob

Bob is a friend, who along with his wife, have been extremely supportive and generous of their time to my husband and I. Bob is brilliant in finances and his wife, Judith is a marketing wiz. Together, they help us get through those areas that seem foreign to us at times.

When the Rockford Art Guild chose to paint bags as their fundraiser Bob bought my bag before I even began painting it. What support! Thanks Bob and Judith.

Sept 3, Croton Petra

This beautiful plant was found at the end of December, along the waterfront shops, in Savannah Georgia. The kids and I surprised my husband with a week long celebration down South for his birthday. Such a great week, such wonderful memories of a stunning city.

Each February the Rockford Art Guild 

hangs a show at the Nicholas Conservatory. 

It always coincides with their orchid show. I make sure I leave with a lot of new photos of possibilities to keep my soul warm during the winter months. Sometimes the quieter pictures take a while to get to. These orchids may not scream with vivid colors like some of the others but their simple elegance is undeniable.
